A definitive diagnosis of dyslexia requires a full diagnostic assessment.
The assessment consists of a full range of tests to assess underlying cognitive ability, performance in aspects of literacy, working memory, speed of processing and phonological awareness. This allows for a profile to be established of both strengths and weaknesses. Assessments usually take around 3 to 4 hours and take place at my garden office at my home in Shropshire*. Prior to the assessment I will collect background information from family and school staff. The assessment is informed by my observations and I will sometimes video an assessment to refer back to (permission is always sought first).
Within 15 working days of the assessment date you will receive a comprehensive report detailing my findings.
A full diagnostic assessment costs £450
£225 is payable when the assessment is booked. The balance of £225 is payable within two working days of the assessment date, prior to the report being written.
* I can carry out an assessment at the school your child attends but there is typically an additional cost of £50 to do this, it will depend on location.
